What is European Drainage?
European Drainage comes out of the tradition of European Biological Medicine which has it's core belief that toxicity is the main driver of chronic disease, inflammation and cellular degeneration in the body. By reversing the body's high toxic burden we can reverse chronic disease and prevent future disease from manifesting. Who Am I?
My name is Dr. Mark Iwanicki and I am a licensed Naturopathic doctor and Acupuncturist. I have been working with Drainage remedies for the past 20 years-10 years on the business side importing Drainage remedies into the United States from Europe, and 10 years on the clinical side utilizing them with patients to reverse all manner of chronic disease. I no longer work in the industry but am passionate about educating practitioners and the public on this powerful modality.
My Personal Journey with Drainage
My first experience with Drainage was as a patient. In my early 20s I had a lot of gastrointestinal issues. I was also allergic to nearly everything and had horrible seasonal allergies, (except they weren't seasonal they were every day). I also was fatigued all the time, had skin rashes and eczema and terrible anxiety. My parents suggested I see Dr. Thomas Szulc, a close family friend and medical doctor who was utilizing natural medicine in his practice. I remember him talking to me about how the body’s natural state is one of health. That the body was designed to heal, to be well all the time and when it wasn't that there was some root case that was preventing it.
I was blown away by his words. I had never heard a doctor talk like that before. The doctors I was used to dealing with were only interested in blocking symptoms. From their perspective the body is constantly just breaking down and needing symptom management. The idea that the body was naturally healthy and seeking to restore health was mind blowing. We began working together and Drainage remedies played a huge role in my treatment program. These strange, liquid, drop-dose remedies from Europe were not something I was used to taking. Dr. Szulc told me that a high toxic body burden was overwhelming my body’s ability to cope and that these remedies would help to stimulate my detox pathways to eliminate the toxic load. After that my body would begin to re-establish self regulation, my immune system would become stronger and I would become healthy and vital again.
After a few weeks I did start feeling better. I had more energy, my GI issues weren't as bad, my allergies started to improve, I was generally feeling better and better each day. We went on to do more advanced IV Drainage treatments, neural therapy, and chelation to remove heavy metals (which had build up after years of amalgams in my mouth) as well as other nutrient and herbal therapies. However Drainage was always the foundation, the base of the treatment philosophy.
I was hooked! I wanted to learn more, to understand more about how Drainage was working. At that time I was on track for Veterinary school but decided to defer and start a company with Dr. Szulc and his son Caspar importing Drainage remedies from Europe and selling them to practitioners. After a time working on the business I realized I wanted to expand my knowledge further. I decided to leave the business to pursue a career in Naturopathic and Chinese Medicine. I got my ND and MAc from NUNM in Portland. There I started to utilize Drainage with patients and saw that the magic that worked on me also worked on patients. I was seeing truly miraculous healings happen. After almost 10 years of clinical practice in and out of school I realized that this knowledge and information needed to be more widely known and understood by the public and other practitioners. I felt like I was sitting on a treasure of information that needed to be spread and shared which is how this course was born.
